5 Things To Watch For in Blazers v Kings

1.Is Brandon Roy going to bounce back? After a less than awe-inspiring performance against Melo and the Nuggets, look for Roy to torch the Kings. Great players rarely repeat bad performances back to back, and by all accounts, Roy is pretty great.

5 Blazing Predictions: Blazers at Grizzlies

The Trail Blazers should, and for the sake of prediction, will win this game. Memphis has had a notoriously hard time defending home court, and Portland has been playing fairly well on this extended road trip. Memphis has had relative success against the Blazers this year, but those games were in Portland. Look for the series to be split.

A Letter of Sympathy to Blazers’ GM Kevin Pritchard

Put down the noose Kevin Pritchard. It isn’t your fault. It wasn’t your fault when Greg Oden and Joel Pryzbilla tapped out for the season. You certainly didn’t cause Brandon Roy to miss fifteen games. And how could you have known that in just his third game, Marcus Camby would sprain his ankle. When Joel and Greg went down, I thought maybe, just maybe, you were being punished by God or karma, or a large ill-tempered sheep. But this latest development defies all odds making, even those odds that involve supernatural payback. You can’t buy a break KP, and hopefully the Portland faithful realize this. For whatever reason, you have been stricken with the worst of luck, and at this point, only luck will keep you afloat. What a quandary?

Please God, Don’t Let Us Lose to the Nets

A game at New Jersey is certainly a site for the sore eyes of Trail Blazer fans. After a proverbial trip to the woodshed courtesy of the Celtics, and a complete meltdown against Utah, the five win Nets might give the Trail Blazers something they need more than anything else: a victory. While no one denies the resolve they have shown this season, the Blazers cannot help but feel their grip on a postseason berth slowly slipping away. Currently in possession of the 8th spot in the Western Conference playoffs, with the Hornets in hot pursuit, the Blazers need as many victories as possible.

5 Bold Predictions for Blazers vs. Celtics

  1. It will be a close scoring game. When the two last met in January, the Blazers fell a mere three points short. The Celts, surely depleted after a close victory over the Lakers, won’t be in tip top shape. Garnett will probably need four knee wraps tonight, and a sharp brandy after the game.
  2. Marcus Camby will have one of his best games of the season. He’s told media in Portland that he is happy in his new organization, and respects everything about the Blazers, from management to player personnel. It’s a good thing Steve Blake was part of the trade. Marcus probably respects the Blazers’ prerogative to get rid of boring white guys. Watch your ass Joel Pryzbilla.
  3. Brandon Roy will play and have his vengeance. He is still listed as questionable right now, but he was helpless in the last battle vs. Boston, and the last thing he wants to do is sit idly while his crew drops another winnable game. He’ll play and score at least 20. Jerryd Bayless will weep with joy.
  4. Doc Rivers’ voice will crack many times. I’m setting the over/under at 7. Puberty is a bitch.
  5. Nate Robinson will attempt to spark his team offensively with a high energy dunk, only to have it unceremoniously rejected by Marcus Camby. Then out of nowhere, Dikembe Mutumbo will come out and wag his finger…then he will ask the nacho girl if she wants “to sex Dikembe.”

Looking at the Marcus Camby Trade

The following is written under the assumption that Marcus Camby will indeed be a Trail Blazer by the end of the day. If the trade falls through, for whatever reason, just forget all of this and I’ll do my best to stifle those cries of frustration that come every time I completely waste an hour of my day.

The DMX of the NBA: Those Bipolar Blazers

Blame it on the injuries, blame it on Kevin Pritchard, or blame it on the alcohol. The Portland Trail Blazers are a genuinely “bipolar” team. I’m not even sure the players no which squad will show up each evening. Unfortunately, in this metaphor, there are no chemical solutions (though a big of HGH might help with Oden’s wheels…I didn’t say that) and Blazers fans are left in the same predicament as those with a bipolar family member: not knowing what they will get from one day to the next.
